The purpose of this course is to teach the General Principles and concepts in Surgical nursing procedures and Management.

Apply the knowledge and the purpose of the components of a preoperative nursing assessment.

Students will be able to identify and recognize the subject matter that to be discussed through introduction and overview of the topic - Students will be able to explain to patient the importance of informed consent Students will be able to construct concise information for a positive outcome in pre-operative nursing care Encourage students to examine thoroughly the facts presented during lectures for better understanding
To provide students with adequate knowledge of four major types of pathologic processes requiring surgical intervention and state the categories and purpose of surgery - Students will be able to discuss the significance of having good nutrition to pre- operative patient - Students will be able to outline appropriate nursing management to patient with burns Develop student’s ability to complete patients’ history that will help in both medical and nursing management. Enhance self-confidence in applying learned skills by performing, reinforcing new ideas to improve performance
Student nurses will be able to describe the effects of surgery to the client Students will be able to comprehend on English instruction - students will learn to incorporate learned knowledge in school to the actual setting Students will develop the skills to collaborate with other health workers for the betterment of patient care
Student nurses will be able to state the importance of nursing process in pre-operative nursing care To enhance students ability to focus on lectures and any form of learning method to enable them to prepare for term exams - students’ will improve their ability to generate new information for professional growth Build confidence that they can render proper nursing care to pre-operative patient
