The course is designed to equip the students with vital theories and concepts to critically analyze the health needs and concerns of the growing individual across the life span from infancy to adolescence.

To aid the nursing students in building a strong knowledge base as well as to assist with the development of critical thinking skills.

Students will be able to identify and recognize the subject matter that to be discussed through introduction and overview of the topic Students will be able to outline and interrelate the discussion to the subject matter Students will be able to performs specific procedures learned during lectures and practical discussions Help students to comprehend the subject matter despite difficulty in understanding English instructions
To provide students with adequate knowledge of Freud’s and Erickson’s personality development Student will be able to illustrate and distinguish different phases of growth and development Prepare students in organizing needed materials in performing specific procedures with ease and confidence Encourage students to have a clear understanding of growth and development according to Freud and Erickson
To help student develop skills to identify appropriate Physical examination based on child’s age and Physical Assessment of the newborn Encourage students to focus on lecture to enable them to give example, illustrate and distinguish the milestone of growth and development Encourage student to choose appropriate physical assessment in pediatric patient Improving the skills of student in performing physical assessment as demonstrated in skills laboratory
- Students will be able to recognize and state the importance of Expanded Program on Immunization and identify common communicable diseases Motivate students to explain in their own understanding the principles of growth and development Enhance students ability to explain the importance of breastfeeding in its advantages and dis advantages to mothers during future clinical exposure Enhance the ability of the students to perform parenteral injections as one of the basic nursing procedures in the hospital which requires adequate knowledge and skills.
